Timely Message

As educators in the faith, we are called to go out and preach God’s word and to help people see the relevance of the kingdom of God to their everyday lives, to the crosses they carry, to the graces and the missions they have been given.
This message is always as timely as the experiences that people are having in their daily lives, wherever they may be, whatever may be their task. Our Constitutions remind us: Our mission sends us across borders of every sort. Often, we must make ourselves at home among more than one people or culture, teaching us that the farther we go in giving, the more we stand to receive.
There is something especially timely about the need to offer hope in times of uncertainty, vulnerability, and suffering. We celebrate the Gospel’s good news of resurrection and victorious Love that is inseparable from sacrifice, self-giving service, and the crosses that we bear together. We are deeply committed to promoting social justice and peace in the world, enlivened by a global view of church and mission but also focused on serving one person at a time.
The eighth Constitution of the Congregation of Holy Cross is titled “The Cross, Our Hope.” It speaks of the Cross being borne as a gift. According to the book, The Cross, Our Only Hope, by Rev. Andrew Gawrych, C.S.C., and Kevin Grove, C.S.C., our Congregation may be unique among religious orders in having such declarations on the power of Christ’s cross as part of our rule of life.
