Community

The Congregation of Holy Cross emphasizes community life at every level of its organizational structure. Constitution Four on Brotherhood speaks about this aspect of our lives:
Our calling is to serve the Lord Jesus in mission not as independent individuals, but in a brotherhood…. We grow close to one another as brothers by living together in community. (C4, cf 33–34).
Our ordinary and desirable manner of living is in a local community, normally an established religious house. Where the formalities of such a house are inapplicable, the local community is designated as a residence. (C4, 35)
Local Holy Cross communities are associated with our apostolic work and/or with the religious formation of our membership. We take our extraordinary journey of faith together, offering each other encouragement, sharing our meals, prayer, and friendship.
